Programme profile
What makes natural science 'scientific'? What is a just law? What can science tell us about free will and ethical responsibilities? In this degree, you'll explore the philosophical aspects of science.
In this programme, you will learn to question fundamental assumptions of your main study. If you are a student of any bachelor's degree at the University of Groningen and you want to learn to critically reflect on topics in your bachelor studies, then this programme may be right for you.
This programme, which looks at the philosophy of a specific scientific discipline, is a combination study: the philosophical part of the programme consists of 60 EC and you can combine this with a university bachelor study (of at least 120 EC). Depending on your planning, it may be possible to complete the programme in one year, but you can also spread the study load over several years. After an introduction in philosophy, you can choose advanced courses philosophy of science, ethics, political philosophy or history of philosophy.
